Upon the amalgamation, the name of the Company was changed to CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited from Crompton Greaves Limited w.e.f. 27 February, 2017. The Company is a global enterprise providing end-to-end solutions to utilities, industries and consumers for the management and application of efficient and sustainable electrical energy. It offers products, services and solutions in two main business segments, viz. Power Systems and Industrial Systems.CG is a part of the Avantha Group, led by the Group's Founder & Chairman Mr Gautam Thapar. In the year 1947, with the dawn of the independence of India, the company was taken over by Lala Karamchand Thapar, an eminent Indian industrialist who formed the Thapar Group. In the year 1966, Greaves Cotton & Crompton Parkinson Ltd was amalgamated with the company. In the year 1975, the company made technical collaboration agreement with Hitachi Ltd, Japan for the manufacture of moulded case circuit breakers.
